Black Diamond Bay - Speak Slow (B.earnd Analogue Edit)

Black Diamond Bay return with their latest single Speak Slow, taken from their impressively eclectic and wonderous ‘Come The Desert’ album. The band have building on their fantastic live reputation this summer with a recently confirmed slot on the BBC introducing stage at Reading and Leeds Festivals in August.

Speak Slow is based around a repeated vocal hook performed first by female (Agne Motie) and then responding male (Jesse O’Mahoney) vocalists. It’s a sensual promise between two young lovers that whispers in your ear, it lies on your tongue and seduces you with it’s subtle and ever evolving instrumentation, until it creeps into your heart and refuses to leave. Of all the myriad of genres BDB fly through this is the most perfectly executed, and the most revealing of their songwriting prowess.

Gung Ho - Twin Rays

Gung Ho are a three piece indie surf-pop band from Brisbane. After spending much of 2011 writing and working on new songs they are ready to release their first single.

The band are just about to commence their first east coast tour in support of their first single, Twin Rays, from their forthcoming EP. Gung Ho have been playing for a little over six months, and feature members Michael McAlary, Oliver Duncan and James Wright (Millions, Young Men Dead).

In their short time as a band they have supported rad/up and coming acts such as The Holidays, Papa vs. Pretty, Bleeding Knees Club, Comic Sans, Kids of 88, Jinja Safari, and Velociraptor.
Their debut EP is due out in early 2012.

The Drums - Money (Beat Connection Remix)

It's easy enough to locate The Drums key influences. Jacob hardly keeps his Eighties indie-pop anoraking a secret, and Jonny's Phil Spector obsession is hard to miss. Whilst the Fifties bubblegum and Eighties synth-punk are virtually worn like badges of honour.

What's trickier to decipher is exactly why they sound so Now. Is it the use of loops and samples? Is it the post-modern patchwork of reference points? Or is it just the fact that The Drums have tapped into a spirit that never gets old. Attaque; an extraordinarily precocious talent making some of the best modern techno we've heard at Bad Life.  As with many an Essex youngster, he found electronic music through years of getting wasted in the shed behind a pub listening to Laurent Garnier.  He's since left the squadies and peroxide blondes of Colchester, and moved his studio to Brighton with the lesbians and fish n' chips.  We found him down there, making something unbelievable.... and so have been very careful to keep him a secret...until now.  As you will hear, his music needs absolutely no bigging up.

Green Label Sound is proud to release the official video for Julio Bashmore's remixof the Classixx track "Into the Valley feat. Karl Dixon". To give the proper visual for the track, the L.A. based DJ duo partnered with their friend and director Marcus Herring. Herring's vision for the video centered on "striking simplicity." The result is one, continuous shot following a girl sprinting through a forest (overlooking a valley, naturally) as layered psychedelic images of leaves and flowers appear over the footage.

Vadoinmessico - The Adventure of a Diver

Adversity maketh the band. Vadoinmessico have spent a year without money you can fold or a studio to call home. Things were going well at first. The combustible sense of excitement meant that the songs came quickly. It was the sound of a band coming together cohesively for the first time. We were optimistic. Then things fell apart. Half of the debut album was recorded at the original Shunt HQ: then their license was revoked. Instruments were hauled on buses in rush hour and tubes in the dead of night. People argued. People looked for disused and often illegal places to practice. It was noisy. People called the Police.

Somehow, these nomadic circumstances eventually worked in their favour. No fixed abode had little relevance to a group of musicals from Mexico, Italy, Austria and the tropical delights of Exeter. Needless to say, they all live in Hackney nowadays, but they have been compared to Arcade Fire, and Animal Collective and even Tyrannosaurus Rex. The band is, of course, flattered by these comparisons and hopes their mix of nationalities and situations will serve to make them stand up on their own.

You know those scenes in a Wes Anderson movie when a character is walking in slow motion and the music is all cute and perfect? This is made for that.
